Do Seiko automatic watches need a battery?

No. Seiko automatic watches are powered entirely by the movement of your wrist — a rotor inside the watch winds the mainspring as you move. If you stop wearing the watch for a few days, it will run down and stop, which is normal. Simply wind it manually by pulling the crown to position 2 and turning clockwise 10–20 times, then set the time and wear it.

How long do Seiko automatic watches last?

Indefinitely with proper care. Seiko recommends a service every 3–5 years for automatic movements to keep them running accurately and protect against wear.
